Deacon Izzy
Deacon Izzy is graduate of Howard University, where he was a member of the school’s trombone ensemble, jazz ensemble, marching band, and orchestra, as well as the student group GWN. Since then, he has been involved with several DC based groups including TheJoGo Project, DuPont Brass, Mark Meadows and The Movement, and Chrysis Entertainment. His voice was used in 2018 by the DC lottery for jingles. With teaching being a passion of his, he was the music/band teacher at City Arts and Prep PCS for over six years; many of his former students went on to attend Duke Ellington School for the Arts. Some of his primary influences include Quincy Jones, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, George Clinton, James Brown, Dave Matthews Band, and Kirk Franklin.
