Men and Women of the Gospel/King St. Sax
Men and Women of the Gospel
Washington Performing Arts Men and Women of the Gospel Choir (MWOTG) has celebrated the heritage of gospel music and its related genres with vibrant, dynamic performances in venues across the nation’s capital for 30 years. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Theodore Thorpe III, the choir is dedicated to presenting this American art form at its highest artistic level, performing contemporary and classic works of African American heritage including gospel standards, hymns, anthems, and other choral repertoire.
King St. Sax
Sultry sax with a side of high energy songs, King Street Sax made a name for himself in Old Town Alexandria as he entertained passersby’s on the stroll to many of the local landmarks. As he grew, King St Sax delved into various genres, seamlessly blending jazz, blues, funk, and soul into his distinctive sound. Soon, the local businesses were requesting him to perform in their restaurants, which later grew to weddings and private events. His dynamic performances evoke a range of emotions from the smooth and mellow to the lively and upbeat, leaving audiences spellbound and craving more.
