A rare opportunity to experience the brilliance of Midori in an intimate chamber-music setting!

We are thrilled to welcome back the peerless violinist, respected educator, committed arts advocate, and 2020 Washington Performing Arts Ambassador of the Arts Midori in person to our concert season! Last seen under our auspices in a COVID-19-necessitated, pre-recorded, online-only program in July 2021, Midori now offers a next-level live experience, performing in a venue of rare intimacy for an artist of her premier stature.

The evening’s program is also very special, as Midori juxtaposes classics by J.S. Bach with works by 20th/21st-century composers. Midori’s performances of J.S. Bach are legendary, generating both popular and critical passion—as in this 2013 Los Angeles Times rave for an evening of Bach sonatas and partitas: “This is the Everest for violinists, a test of fingers and feeling, and here she reached such new heights…. Something came pouring out of Midori. The violin playing was…phenomenal…. She played Bach as if the ink were still wet and she didn’t know where the movements were headed. She mined notes like an archaeologist on a dig to see what they might reveal.” Experience Midori’s latest Bach revelations and more this October—but please act soon, as tickets promise to go very quickly.

The performance is approximately two hours. There is an intermission.

This performance is an external rental presented in coordination with the Kennedy Center Campus Rentals Office and is not produced by the Kennedy Center.
