Sixth & I

Built in 1906, Sixth & I has been a cultural landmark in D.C. for over a century while evolving into a modern center for arts, entertainment, and Jewish life. The venue inspires meaningful experiences that embrace the multi-faceted identities of the local community.
The building’s architecture, notably its exquisite dome, creates a natural acoustic phenomenon that produces warm, shimmering resonances that make every musical note sparkle throughout the hall. Music critics often note how Sixth & I’s unique acoustics allow both dramatic crescendos and delicate nuances to shine with remarkable clarity, creating an emotionally immersive listening experience. The venue’s intimate setting combined with expansive sound creates a rare concert experience in which audiences feel deeply connected to the performers and the music.
Thanks to thoughtful renovations in 2002 and 2013 by The National Trust for Historic Preservation, Sixth & I maintains its historical charm while featuring modern technology for contemporary performances.
Located in DC’s vibrant Chinatown neighborhood, Sixth & I offers the perfect cultural night out with convenient parking and numerous dining options just steps away.
